People never stop amazing me.....

I had this story (true story) posted on another site, didn't feel like a good fit, so I have moved it to a blog site, I use... Have a little story to tell, don’t read this if you don’t like stories, of wonderfully fallible human beings! THIS HAPPENED SEPT. 27, 2005 I am pretty much running on empty today, not enough sleep and burning the candle at both ends, tried coffee today (after many years) found it wasn’t what I remembered. Not as bad as I rememebered..... I could do coffee….(good coffee). I am amazed how much I can get done even when running on not much! God is good to me that way! Genes don’t hurt either…LOL I was in the city, where I live and was in a turn lane (1st in line) to make a right turn, light was green and I take off, only to be smacked (lightly) by a car trying to pass me (in my lane) , I was shocked, trying to figure out what I done wrong….. The car (that hit me) kept going(but was slowing down), I made my turn and came right up behind the car….He turned again and I followed (only because that is the way I needed to go) and he pulled over to the curb and jumped out of his car, so I calmly pulled in behind his car, left 6 feet between us. He was already in front of my car, looking so long in the face, I thought I might cry… I got out of my car and surveyed the damage, he did too, and then he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet, “he said” would you like to exchange information or can I just pay you for the damage now? I looked right at him, stuck out my hand, to shake his (needed to touch his hand, “long story”) and I smiled and told him my first name and he said , Hello, my name is Rick and it is a pleasure to meet you and I am so completely sorry!” He asks me if I was alright and I said no, but that he had nothing to do with that. LOL and he laughed too. He tried to give me some money, he was offering $500.00, I said, put your money away…. Then he tried to offer his Insurance card, I said no thanks. The damage is minor, just rubber from your bumper and it can be buffed out! We looked at his “much more expensive car, damage was more” I told him, he might need his money to fix his own car! We laughed and I said, I needed to leave and He said, but.. but.. but, and so I looked at him, I was standing next to my car and said, “You owe me a favor” and he laughed lightly and said, it’s a deal, next time I see you, “can I buy you a drink?’ I live in a pretty good size city; I’m never going to see him again. We both knew that and I said, “Tell you what, next time something like this happens to you, insist they take your money and have a real nice day!” I thought he was going to grab me and hug me, he couldn’t be smiling any bigger, and he said I had made his whole month!!! I knew then I did the right thing….Felt good and we were both happy. And I went home for lunch and to recoup for work at 3:30 today!
